Redistricting on the Ballot: First Major 2026 Campaign Launches in Virginia

Richmond, VA – As a new redistricting campaign launched today in Virginia, the country’s leading ballot measure organization announced its backing of the effort. 

The Fairness Project, one of the nation’s largest funders and strategic partners behind progressive ballot measures, is supporting ballot measure campaigns to protect democracy in 2026, with a major focus on redistricting. In addition to Virginians for Fair Elections, the Fairness Project plans to support a wave of upcoming campaigns nationwide that are leveraging ballot measures to give voters a direct role in shaping their congressional maps.

In response to today’s announcement, Kelly Hall, Director of the Fairness Project, issued the following statement.
